HISTORY OF MAHABALI:
The history says that a Demon KING MAHABALI ruled in Kerala and he decided to conduct a Mahayajna. His decision to conduct a Mahayajna has shaken the entire God community and they have approached Lord Vishnu to find a way to break the Mahayajna to avoid Mahabali to occupy Indra’s throne just after the completion of Mahayajna.

To save the entire God Community, Vishnu took “VAMANA” Avatar, entered Mahayajna Yajnashala’s premises and trapped Mahabali with a demand of 3 feet Land to be measured with his feet which Mahabali agreed.

Upon getting the permission from Mahabali, suddenly Vamana grew in a giant manner and measured the entire Heavens with one foot, the entire Universe with another foot and leaving no space for Mahabali to offer with the third feet. To fulfil his commitment and to show Mahabali’s devotion, he offered his head as a third space and Vishnu granted him boon to become next Indra (thus Indra-in-Waiting) and given permission to visit in Kerala once in a year.
