It has been noted that the Delhi University is now considering to name its upcoming college at Fatehpur Beri after the first woman chief minister of Delhi Sushma Swaraj,
Apart from her name, they are considering different names such as Swami Vivekananda and Veer Savarkar, etc. But majorities of the Academic Council and Executive Council of the University are now giving more preference to Sushma Swaraj’s name rather than anybody else.
The entire Indians will he happy if Delhi University is considering Sushma Swaraj’s name for their upcoming college at Fatehpur Beri.
Sushma Swaraj was one of the excellent politicians India ever seen. Her leadership qualities are amazing and the same has proved whenever she was a minister in the state and central ministry.
She became the youngest cabinet minister of Haryana Government at the age of 25 and she served in this government from 1977 to 1979.
On 12th October 1998 Sushma Swaraj became the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi. BJP appointed her as a Chief Minister of Delhi few days prior to the assembly election in Delhi. Hence, she was able to serve as a Chief Minister of Delhi for a period of 52 days only.
Sushma Swaraj served as a minister of Information and Broadcasting in Atal Bihari Bajpayee’s government. In 1998, Sushma Swaraj declared Movie Production as an “Industry” as other Industrial sectors in India. Her bold decision has made the Movie Industry eligible to get the loans from various Government’s Financial Institutions rather than providing unreasonable interest rates by scrupulous private financial institutions/individuals.
Sushma Swaraj was a Leader of the Opposition from 2009 to 2014. During this period she has performed her role as an Opposition Leader in an outstanding manner and she got a wide range opportunity to meet various world leaders whenever they were visiting in India.
Her political and diplomatic experience in the world affairs remarkably improved when she was an opposition leader and the same has immensely helped her in developing personal rapport with many global dignitaries.
On 26 May 2014 Sushma Swaraj became the second female External Affairs Minister of India and she continued the same till 24th May 2019. Late Indira Gandhi was the first female External Affairs Minister of India.
As an External Affairs Minister of India, she has taken vehement efforts in improving the bilateral relationship with other countries. During this period bilateral relationship between India and SAARC, ASEAN, Middle East region countries have already been improved in a phenomenal manner.
Sushma Swaraj has taken wonderful and timely initiative in saving hundreds of Indian people who have been stranded in many countries in different times due to internal conflicts or instant war with other countries.
Sushma Swaraj has carried out round the clock supervision to conduct a large-scale evacuation process of the stranded people while Yemen was facing worst ever internal conflicts. During this evacuation “Raahat” operation period, she has managed to evacuate 4,741 Indian nationals as well as 1,947 people from 48 countries.
She has immensely helped so many Pakistani people who was suffering from various deadly illness. She has arranged instant Indian visa for those Pakistani people who wanted to take instant medical treatment, undergo open-heart surgery as well as liver transplant from India.
Sushma Swaraj’s timely humanitarian acts towards the suffering Indians as well as other country citizens was widely appreciated by the international communities.
She was an outstanding speaker, having excellent diplomatic skill and she was widely known as the “Iron Lady” of India. In 2004, she was honored with the outstanding Parliamentarian Award.
Considering her outstanding service towards the country, she was awarded Padma Vibhushan.
She was an energetic and efficient Minister, exceptional Parliamentarian, good politician, good orator, having good diplomatic skills. Her contribution towards India will be remembered forever.
Unfortunately on 6 August 2019, Sushma Swaraj passed away due to Cardiac Arrest at the age of 67 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
