China faced worst ever humiliation at the hands of India in Ladakh
More than 8 months elapsed since Chinese and Indian militaries locked in a tense border standoff in eastern Ladakh. During this period, both countries have been mobilizing thousands of para military personnel and ultra modern military weapons at their respective border areas and getting ready for a deadly battle.
This military standoff started in the month of May 2020, when Chinese military personnel secretly moved forward Finger4 areas from their usual position at Finger 8. They have succeeded in moving forward at about 8Kms. from Finger 8 to Finger 4.
Chinese military also occupied important heights overlooking India’s ITBP post between Finger 4 and Finger 3 as well as other peaks situating 4 to 5 km to the north of the lake.
It means China has illegally occupied about 35 to 40 square kms. areas at the Ladakh border. Prior to occupying these areas illegally, Chinese regime might have thought that India would not be able to take any counter military and other measures against the powerful Chinese military. Contrary to their expectations, the aggressive and determined Indian government given free hand to Indian military to take bitter and aggressive counter measures against Chinese military.
Indian Military occupied six new heights:-
To give a bitter reply to China, Indian Army has occupied six new heights between 29th August 2020 and the second week of September 2020. The new hills occupied by Indian troops include the Magar hill, Gurung Hill, Recehen La, Rezang La, Mokhpari and the dominating height over Chinese positions near Finger 4.
Violent clashes between Indian and Chinese military personnel:-
On 15th June 2020, serious violent clashes and stone pelting erupted between Indo Chinese military personnel at a height of nearly 4,300m (14,000 ft) in a steep terrain and some soldiers falling into the fast-flowing Galwan river in sub-zero temperatures. This deadly incident erupted at a time when both sides had met in Galwan Valley for the de-escalation.
Soon after the violent clash, India accused that the Chinese troops had planned this escalation well in advance and they used street fighting weapon such as iron rods studded with nails, etc.
Just after the violent clashes, India confirmed that 20 Indian soldiers have already been killed during the violent clashes. At the same time International and Indian medias reported that more than 45 Chinese military personnel have already been killed. But till January 2021 there was no official confirmation from Chinese side about their casualities. In February 2021 Chinese regime disclosed that they lost 5 military personnel after Russian media reported that China lost more than 40 military personnel.
As China was not ready to disengage their armaments military personnel at their earlier position, Indian government has taken varieties of counter measures that has literally broken China’s economy in a drastic manner.
Banning of Chinese Apps in India:-
To harm China economically, Indian government has banned more than 200 Chinese apps including most popular apps such as Bytedanceâs TikTok, PUBG, UC Browser WeChat, Helo, Xender, SHAREit, Clean-master, etc. They also banned shopping portals such as Shein and Club Factory and gaming apps such as Clash of Kings, etc. Just after this ban, Global Times of China reported that the Chinese internet company ByteDance (the parent of the TikTok and Helo apps) itself incred lose up to 6 billion dollars that is equivalent to Indian Rs 45,000 crore after the ban.
Indian Government thwarted Chinese attempt to take over Indian companies:-
To avoid Chinese company’s attempt to take over Indian companies by purchasing their massive shares, In 2020, Indian government has amended the foreign direct investment (FDI)rules for bordering nations without naming China. Indian government had removed FDI coming in from that country via automatic route, fearing hostile takeovers. India’s decision in this regards severely hurt Chinese plan to take over Indian companies one after another.
To hurt China financially, India cancelled many contracts that was awarded earlier to Chinese companies. Details of the same are given below:-
- Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray has put on hold three Chinese projects worth of Rs 5,000 crore.
- A project with Hengli engineering worth Rs 250 crores.
- A project with Great Wall Motors worth Rs 3,770 crores
- A project with PMI electro mobility worth Rs 1,000 crore.
- Haryana government cancelled the Thermal Power Station contracts worth of 780 crores that was awarded to two Chinese companies.
- Indian Railways terminated a signaling contract worth Rs 471 crore awarded to a Chinese company called Beijing National Railway Research and Design Institute of Signal and Communication Group.
- The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) cancelled their 4G upgradation tenders issued in March 2020. Through their decision, Chinese company Huawei lost an opportunity to take part in the 5G trials.
- India also reduced the import from mainland China and Hong Kong that has caused declining of Chinese import by over 7 per cent.
- Uttar Pradesh government lead by Yogi Adityanath has imposed a ban on the installation of new China- made electricity meters by the state Power Department.
- The Bihar government cancelled a tender for the construction of a new mega bridge parallel to Patna’s iconic Mahatma Gandhi Setu because two of the four contractors selected for the project had Chinese partners.
Chinese regime paid heavy price for their adventure and illegal intrusion at Ladakh border. That is the reason now they are pulling back their troops and armaments to near patrolling points 14 and 15 in Galwan Valley and in the Hot Spring area in Ladakh. From the north bank, Chinese troops will withdraw to east of Finger 8, while Indian troops will move to Dhan Singh Thapa post near Finger 3.
Conclusion:-
Though China is now pulling back their troops and military equipment from the intruded areas, but nobody knows their scrupulous motive in future. That is the reason India government is always alert against China and Indian military is well prepared in thwarting Chinese every attempt to harm India.
