The veteran Bollywood actress Hema Malini was born on 16 October 1948 and her age is now 72 (in 2020). Her actual name was Malini Chakravarthy. She was born in Jeeyapuram, Tiruchirappali District, Tamil Nadu. She is a Tamil-speaking Vaishnavite Brahmin.
Hema Malini started her acting career In 1963 and her first film was a Tamil film “Ithu Siamiyam”. Her acting debut in Bollywood was in “Sapno Ke Saudagar” movie in 1968. Her breakthrough hit movie in Bollywood was In Seeta Aur Geeta. In this movie she acted in a double role.
Hema Malinin was one of the finest actresses Indian movie industry during her acting era. She was in the movie industry almost five decades and She was rightly called as ‘dreamgirl’. Eventhough she is now away from the movie industry, still seldom actresses are in the movie industry as good as she is. Hema was the only actress who got an opportunity act with all the five Kapoor movie actors such as Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, and Rishi Kapoor.

Hema is a trained Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer and she owns the Natya Vihar Kalakendra dance school.

That was the highest ever in number wise as well as in percentage wise in the history of Mathura Lok Sabha constituency. In 2019 once again she got elected from Mathura Parliamentary constituency.
Apart from becoming a politician, Hema Malini has been involving with many charitable and social organizations. She received an Honorary Doctorate from Padampat Singhania University in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Hema Malini was the main instrumental in reviving Manoj Kumar and Rajesh Khanna’s career when they were facing slump in their acting career. At the time Hema Malini’s acting with Manoj Kumar in “Sanyasi” film as well as Rajesh Khanna in “Premnagar” film helped these two actors to revive their acting careers.
Throughout her five decades long acting career, she received eleven nominations for the Filmfare Award for the Best Actress. In 1972, she received her first Filmfare Award for her acting in the film “Seeta aur Geeta” .
In 2000, she was felicitated with Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. In the same year, he was also awarded with Padma Shri for her contribution to Indian cinema.
During 1970 period, Hema Malini was at the maximum height of her acting career. At that time, prominent actors such as Jetendra and Sanjeev Kumar were behind of her to get marry. But Hema Malini fell in love with Dharmendra who was already been married earlier. On 21 August 1979, Dharmendra and Hema Malini got married eventhough their age gap was almost 13 years.
One of her super hit films was Sholay. In this film she acted alongwith Dharmendra and Amitab Bachan and both these actors acted in this film in a fantastic way. Apart from the same, Hema Malini displayed marvelous acting skills in this film that has helped Sholey to become a Super Duper Hit film.
