As India is now facing major military threat from Chinese military at Indo China border, Indian military has been mobilizing modern defense armaments at the sensitive Indo China border areas on a war foot manner.
China is India’s largest neighbour and both countries are having about 3488 Kms border areas. China engaged a bitter war with India from 20 October 1962 to 21st November 1962 and they have captured many Indian border areas during the war. Apart from holding some of the Indian border areas, China is still claiming that the Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh is belongs to them.
To face the Chinese military aggression, recently Indian military has mobilized many advanced military equipment such as 155mm/39-caliber M777 Ultra-light Howitzers, the upgraded L-70 anti-aircraft gun and the 155 mm FH 77 BO2 guns at Indo China border areas.
Advantage of 155mm/39-caliber M777 Ultra-light Howitzers:-
- It’s target range is basically up to 30Km.
- It is capable of striking targets at ranges of more than 40kms where the geography allows the shells to fly in rarified air.
- It is having light weight comparing with other Howitzers in the world market.
- It can be deployed and redeployed promptly at any mountainous terrain areas by utilizing CH-47F Chinook helicopters.
Advantages of L-70 anti-Aircraft guns:-
- This is a modified version of the L-70 anti-aircraft gun that was manufactured by Swedish arms manufacturer Bofors AB.
- It is having much more destructive power than it’s earlier version.
- This is one of the sophisticated air defense gun.
- It can mobilize at high altitude such as the forward location at a height of 13,500 feet such as Bum La sector.
- This gun equipped with a Muzzle Velocity Radar for enhancing the accuracy of fire.
- It has the ability to be integrated with tactical and fire control radars which give it more flexibility in its deployment.
Apart from mobilizing modern defense armaments at the Indo China Border, Indian government also taking war foot action for the infrastructural development along the Indo China border. These developments are meant for the speedy mobilization of military equipment and personnel in the event of war or war like situation arises are the border.
The Border Roads Organization (BRO) is now doing commendable job for making or completed many strategic roads and tunnels along the Indo China border with the support of Indian Government and Indian Military.
Given below details of the strategic roads and tunnels BRO has already been constructed or constructing:-
- Construction of 177 roads in two phases of over 10,023 km length along its Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China is ongoing.
- Construction of 73 roads of 3,323 km length under ICBR-I (Phase-I) is ongoing.
- Construction of 104 roads of more than 6,700 km length under ICBR-II (Phase-II) is ongoing.
- Construction of Darbuk-Shayok-Daulat Beg Oldie Road (DS-DBO) has already been completed.
- Construction Atal Tunnel under Rohtang Pass has already been completed.
- Construction of Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh is ongoing.
- Construction of road-cum-rail tunnel under the Brahmaputra river in Assam is ongoing.
India also redirected more than 50,000 additional troops to Indo China Border that was the historic shift towards an offensive military posture against China.
Apart from taking aggressive military posture at Indo Pak border, Indian military is now much more focusing on Indo China border due to the constant military threat from China.
