On 27th May 2021 India has celebrated 57th death anniversary of India’s first and longest serving Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. During this occasion, India people remembered him about his vast contribtion towards India.
Jawharlal Nehru was born on November 14, 1889 in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj and he died on 27th May 1964.
Till Nehru turned 15 he was studying from home from where he received most of his primary education before he went to study overseas and returned to India in 1912.
Jawaharlal Nehru was a renowned leader of India who fought for the freedom along with Mahatma Gandhi from 1916 to 1947 for more than 30 years against the British occupation in India. He has started service jail sentence at the age of 23 and he was in the Jail in different times approximately for a period of nine years From 1921 to 1945.
As he actively participated India’s freedom struggle about 3 decades, he was selected for the prime minister of India on 15th August 1947. He served as a Prime Minister of India for a period of 17 years . During this period he played crucial role in making India as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic country. He also implemented multi party and secular democratic system in India.
Jawaharlal Nehru became Prime Minister of India when India was suffering from lack of money and infrastructural facilities. Those days only 8% people were literate and the life expectancy of the people were approximately 31 years. It means the people were dying before attaining any skills to contribute for the country’s economy.
Pandit Nehru was a renowned writer and he has written so many books, His letters and articles were widely famous among the Indian and world communities across the world. His hundreds of letters written to his daughter Indira Gandhi was later compiled and the same has become a famous book called Glimpses of World History.
