Recently Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that the prestigious 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2020 would be honoured to one of the Indian movie superstar Rajinikanth. He is the 12th South Indian movie personality to get this prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
As he is an excellent actor, producer, good screen writer and an icon of Indian movie industry, he really deserves for this prestigious award.
His name was selected by the Juries such as playback icon Asha Bhosle, director-producer Subhash Ghai, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, music composer, singer Shankar Mahadevan and Biswajeet Chatterjee for this prestigious award.
Rajinikanth is one of the finest movie superstars in India. He can be as par with other Indian movie superstars such as Rajesh Khanna, MG Ramachandran, N T Rama Rao, Sivaji Ganesan, Ashok Kumar, Vyjanthimala,Dilip Kumar, Devanand, Jayalalithaa, Saroja Devi, Gemini Ganesan, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Kamal Hasan, Chiranjeevi, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Amir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgan, Anil Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, etc.
Rajinikanth has been acting in Tamil movies for the past 35 years. Rajinikanth has started his movie acting carrier in the Tamil film industry with Balachander’s Apoorva Raagangal. Kamal Haasan and Srividya was the main actors in this movie.
His unique style of acting, dialogue, stunts, tossing the cigarette up in the air to catch it with the lips, unique mannerisms and stylized line delivery and his mesmerizing dance are widely popular among the crazy Indian movie lovers.
Rajinikant has already acted more than 160 films in various regional languages and he has been enjoying considerable clout in Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada movie industry. Majorities of the movies he acted are in Tamil only.
Considering his vast contributions towards Indian Move Industry for the past few decades, he has been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan in 2016 and Padma Bhushan in 2000.
Rajinikanth’s actual name is Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. He was born on 12th December 1950 in Bangalore, Karnataka.
Prior to entering into movie industry, Rajinikanth was working as a bus conductor in Bangalore. Afterwards, he has moved to the Madras Film Institute to pursue his movie career. As he did not get any support from his family for pursuing his career in the movie industry, he came across lot of difficulties in the beginning.
But the people like Raj Bhahdur (his close friend), K. Balachander(Tamil movie maker) and Vishnu Vardhan(Kannada Movie actor) immensely helped him to keep continue his movie acting career. That was the main reason he has dedicated his Dadasaheb Phalke Award to his close friend Raj Bahadur as well as other friends who helped him lot during his difficult period.
Rajinikanth’s some of the mega hit movies are “Billa”, “Muthu”, “Sivaji” and “Enthiran”, etc. He also acted many Bollywood movies such as “Hum”, “Andha Kanoon”, “Bhagwaan Dada”, “Aatank hi Aatank” and “Chaalbaaz”. Apart from acting in Tamil and Bollywood movies, he also acted in many other regional language movies.
Rajinikanth was the person who literally repaid the losses incurred to the distributors who suffered lot due to the failure of his film Baba.
Rajinikanth was the first Indian movie actor who got an opportunity to work in movies using various camera techniques such as black-and-white, color, 3D and motion capture. He also acted in “Gereftaar” movie alongwith two other iconic actors such as Amithab Bachchan and Kamal Haasan.
