Saurav Ganguly immensely contributed lot for Indian Cricket

Saurav Ganguly was one of the finest Indian cricket team captains India ever seen. He was having great deal of leadership qualities such as good vision, determination, courage to lead the team with vigor against their opponents.

Family Background – His full name is Sourav Chandidas Ganguly. He was born on 8th July 1972 in a Bengali family in Kolkata. His mother’s name is Nirupa Ganguly and his father name is Chandidas.

Other names – He was basically a Left-handed batsman and a Right arm medium bowler. Even though the people are calling him Saurav Ganguly, but many people are fondly calling him as Dada, Bengal Tiger, Maharaja etc.

He became Indian cricket team captain in such a time the entire cricket team in the Asian sub continent were facing wide spread match fixing allegations. Those days majorities of Indian cricket lovers almost lost their faith on International cricket players. He was one who played major role in creating cricket mania once again among the Indians in India and abroad.

Just after becoming captain of Indian Cricket team, within a shorter period Saurav Ganguly proved that he was the best leader, mentor and one of the most prolific left hand batsmen in the world. Ganguly’s greatest asset is his ability to communicate with other team mates. He is naturally a highly confident person, great motivator, born captain and he encourages his team members always to perform exceptionally well.

He was a very straightforward person whenever he was facing the press conference and he was always refraining from talking in a nonsense manner to the press. He always keeps an extremely healthy rapport with his teammates.

Saurav Ganguly was the first person who educated Indian team members the art of aggression, self-belief and the custom of winning abroad. He preferred in leading the team from the front by example and he used to give bitter reply to those player/captain who was trying to belittle Indian team’s performance and their playing capabilities.

He was the main instrumental in inducting more and more young cricket players in the Indian cricket team from different parts of India. He along with the then chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar started picking up the talented and highly performing youngsters from across the country.

Prior to Saurav Ganguly’s captaincy, Indian cricket team was mostly dominating by majorities of Bombay and Karnataka players only. His immense efforts finally benefitted to many players such as Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, Ifran Pathan, Kaif, Mahendra Dhoni, Virat Kohli etc.

Earlier Indian cricket team was famous in winning almost all cricket matches in India and loosing majority of their matches from abroad. Those days Indian team’s loosing trend from overseas was mainly attributed due to their pitches and climatic condition. Saurav Ganguly managed to change Indian Team’s earlier attitude and made Indian team to believe that Indian team can win the matches from overseas pitches if they plays in a vigorous manner.

Saurav Ganguly was always motivating young Indian cricket players and he was effectively utilizing their potential and playing caliber.

Saurav Ganguly’s determined and courageous attitude as a Captain created strong vigor on other players and he made them believe that the Indian team can win the matches against any formidable teams such as Australia, England, West Indies, New Zealand, Sri Lanka etc. from their own pitches.

His leadership was visibly aggressive and the same has immensely transformed into the Indian Cricket team. His aggressive leadership and batting has greatly influenced the younger members in the team and they started playing in a vigorous manner along with Saurav Ganguly.

Ganguly took earnest initiative in teaching his subordinates the art of being tough against the best bowlers without fear. He taught them to give bitter reply if someone is trying to sledge them while playing.

Sourav Ganguly changed Indian team’s culture from humble, polite to feisty side. His active role and contribution to make Indian team tougher has immensely helped his successors to keep continue the same attitude.

He has affectively lead the team in winning 49 matches. Saurav Ganguly immensely helped Indian team to reach the finals of the 2003 world cricket cup. During this world cup he scored 465 runs including a classy 100 against Kenya.

Sourav Ganguly was the only player who have won four Man of the Match awards in a row.

Under his able and efficient captaincy, Indian team won their first test match in Australia after 23 long years.

Indian cricket team requires players like DADA who can play fearless cricket against any team in the world. He was a greatest Captain of Indian team, one of the most terrific batsman, good fielder and a good bowler also.

Saurav Gandhuly never tolerated injustice meted out to him as well as his team mates. He was totally against former Indian coach Greg Chappell when he tried to create a misunderstandings between the senior and junior players in the Indian Cricket Team. He was the first person who vehemently resisted Greg Chappel’s filthy attempt to create problems between the players in the Indian cricket team.

Saurav Ganguly is now the President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and he is now trying his level best to contribute further more for the Indian cricket.
