The late Indian movie actress Sridevi (her actual name was Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan) was born on 13 August 1963 in Sivakasi, Madras State (Tamil Nadu), India. She adapted the name Sridevi after she started acting in the movies. Her father name was Ayyapan (Lawyer) and her mother name was Rajeswari (House wife).

Sridevi was a rare talent, extremely a versatile actress and one of the biggest icons/ Legends in the Indian Movie Industry. During her 50 years movie acting career, she acted about 300 movies in 5 languages. She was the most successful child artist in the Indian cinema industry.

Sridevi and the Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty married in 1985 and their relationship lasted only till 1988.

She then got married Bollywood movie Producer Boney Kapoor in 1996 and the couple have two daughters called Janhvi as well as Khushi.

Sridevi Film Career :-
Sridevi started her movie career as a child actress at the age of 4 in a Tamil movie “Thunaivan”. In this movie, she acted the role of a young Lord Muruga. In 1969, she made her debut in a Malayalam movie Kumara Sambhava as a child actress. Since then she acted many regional language movies such as Tamil, Telugue, Malayalam, Kannanda and Hindi in various roles.

She started acting at the age of 4 and she continuously acted about 34 years on a non stop basis. She resumed her acting career once again in a selective manner at the age of 49 and continued the same till 54.

She acted with Jayalalitha (former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu) in Thirumangalyam, Kandan Karunai as well as Adi Parashakti.

Sridevi Movie Career with Leading Role:-
In 1976, she has started her first leading role in Moondru Mudichu (a Tamil Movie that was directed by K. Balachander) that has become a Mega Hit in the Box Office. Afterwards she acted in many movies with Tamil movie superstars such as Kamal Kassan as well as Rajinikanth.

Sridevi acted with Anil Kapoor in many Hindi movies and they Jodi became popular from 1980 to 1990. They acted together about 13 movies and many of the movies such as Mr India, Lamhe, Laadla, Judaai, etc. became maga hit.

Sridevi was a great actress, legend and she was the first female superstar of Bollywood.

Sridevi made her debut as a heroine in Hindi film in Solva Sawan in 1979 that was directed by Bharathiraja. Since then she was literally ruling the Bollywood Industry till 1997.

In 1981, Sridevi won her first film fare award for the best actress in a Tamil movie Meendum Kokila.

In 1992 she got a Film fare Award for the Best Actress in the Kshana Kshanam movie that was directed by Ram Gopal Varma.

She acted with Jeetendra in many movies such as Himmatwala (1983), Jaani Dost (1983), Justice Chaudhry (1983), Mawaali(1983), Akalmand (1984), Tohfa (1984), Balidaan (1985), Aulad (1987), Suhagan (1986), Ghar Sansar (1986), Dharm Adhikari (1986),Sone Pe Suhaaga (1988) Aag Aur Shola (1986), Himmat Aur Mehanat (1987), Sarfarosh (1985).

Considering her vast acting contributions towards Indian movie industry, she received India’s fourth highest civilian Padma Shri award in 2013.

She acted exceptionally well on Sadma, Nagina, Lamhe, English Vinglish, Chaalbaaz, Judaai and Mom, etc. Her way of acting in various movies will always remain in the heart and minds of the Indian movie lovers for ever.

Even though Sridevi struggled lot many years in the Bollywood industry, but still no actress claims to be able to do comedy much better than Sridevi in Hindi movie industry. She is able to take the most outrageous, inane and illogical roles in movies such as Nagina, Nigahen, Chandni, Judaai, Chandramukhi etc that make them the most incredible with her performances.

Throughout her acting career, Sridevi was always enthralling her movie audiences by acting exceptionally well. Unfortunately on 24th February 2018, India lost such a brilliant heroin who was found dead by an accidental drowning in her guest room at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
