Recently Narendra Modi government has taken a right decision to rename Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti as ‘Parakram Diwas’. In future every year on 23rd January his birth day will be celebrated as ‘Parakram Diwas’.
Subhash Chandra Boss is popularly known as “Netaji” and he was born on 23 January 1897 in Orissa, Bengal division. His mother name was Janaki Nath Bose and his father name was Prabhabati Bose. He married an Austrian women Emille Shinken. He passed his B.A. Degree from University of Calcutta.
He became the president of all India youth congress under the mentorship of Chittaranjan Das. In 1930 he emerged as a mayor of Calcutta Municipal Corporation. Later he wrote a book titled “The Indian Struggle” which was published in 1935. He worked with Jawaharlal Nehru for India’s independence.
He was one of the popular freedom fighters of India and his ultimate goal was to get total freedom from British rule in India. He was the only leader of that huge stature who stated that “Freedom is not govern, it’s taken”. That’s why he was in favor of a bitter war against British.
To achieve his goal, he formed Indian National Army in the intention of preparing bloody war with British military. One of this famous slogans i.e. ”you give me blood, I will give you freedom” that has sparked the fire of patriotism in the hearts and minds of many Indians.

Subhash Chandra Bose was totally against Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophies such as non-violent movement as well as satyagarha. His path for the freedom struggle was much different than Mahatma Gandhi.
While participating the freedom struggle within a shorter period he realized that the British Government would have to be forced hard to leave India and he wanted to fight fierce bloody war against the illegal British regime in India. Hence, he decided to join with British major enemies such as Japan and Germany and he sought their military assistance to defeat British regime in India.
Subhash Chandran Boss contributed lot for India to keep excellent cultural , economic and diplomatic relationship with Japan , Germany, Russia. To keep continue the cordial relationship with these countries, he had traveled to length and breadth of these nations during the days of Indians freedom struggle.
With the help of Japan he formed Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army) that fought against the Allied forces in South East Asia. Along with the Japanese, Indian National Army brought independence to Andaman and Nicobar Islands and they came upto Manipur. Unfortunately Japanese Army gradually became weak after the second world war and he was forced to retreat and disband Azad Hind Fauj.
Subhash Chandra Boss was an Iron Fist leader and he could have easily controlled Indian people by iron first rule if he comes to the power in India. As he was a visionary he could have carried out massive developmental works in the country. Those days his ties with other countries across the globe was widely appreciated. At the same time many Indians are still believing that his Iron Fist policy would not work among those Indians who where literally suffering and living below the poverty line.
He is always been regarded as one of the most patriotic leaders who was forefront of inspiring thousands of youngsters, women and general public in India. To get the total freedom from British Emperors, he did not care with whom he had to align and seek for all sort of assistance from them. He even met Adof Hitler and sought help from him for India’s Independence after escaping from India.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the one who founded All India Forward Bloc party and they conducted their first All India bloc meeting in Nagpur. Within a shorter period, his new party got widespread support from the people in West Bengal and Netaji travelled across India for getting more and more political support for his party. Considering his popularity among the mass and the political support he was getting from the general public, British authorities banned his All India Forward Bloc party in August 1942.
He has contributed lot for the freedom of India. However, due to unknown reasons, he seems to have died on 18 August, 1945. His death is still a mystery and it has already been marred with lot of controversies.
