History is saying that a Roman Catholic priest St. Valentine took immense initiative in marrying off the Roman soldiers secretly in a Christian ceremony that has marked the beginning of his reputation as a believer in importance of love. That was the main reason The Valentine’s Day is named after St. Valentine day. While he was taking immense marriage initiative for the Roman soldiers, his country Rome was ruled by Emperor Claudius II Gothicus who literally prohibited their soldiers from marrying. He wants the entire soldiers supposed to dedicate and fight for their country rather than getting married for the love.
As Emperor Claudius II Gothicus found St. Valentine was indulging/encouraging the soldiers to get marry secretly, Emperor Claudius II Gothicus put St. Valentine in the jail, subsequently executed him on 14th February 270 AD. As St. Valentine was taking rigorous efforts in providing love for the Roman soldiers through the marriage, his death anniversary is celebrated as Valentine’s Day.
