The brainchild of the World Friendship Day was Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho. He got this idea while he was having dinner with his friends on 20th July 1958.
Celebrating the bond of friendship was clearly written in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. During period of 4th Century CE, widespread celebration of Friendship Day took place in the province of Ayodhya when Lord Krishnaâs friend Sudama arrived in his kingdom after a long journey.
