On 27 July 2022, India has observed death anniversary of former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam who was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.
Abdul Kalam was elected as the President of India in 2002 and he continued this post till 2007. His candidature for Indian President was proposed by Vajpayee government. He has won the election with thumping majority with the support of Indian National Congress party as well as other opposition parties in India.
During his presidential tenure he has proved that the President of India can do many thing for the country rather than coordinating with the government and signing the documents of the central government.
Even after becoming president of India, Abdul Kalam was finding enough time for teaching and delivering the lectures for the students as well as other people on various subjects from different platforms.
As he was very humble, gentle and always working for the common people, he has been referred to as “People President”.
Prior to becoming President of India, Abdul Kalam was working as an Aerospace Scientist. Considering his earnest efforts and wide rage contributions in developing various types of Missiles for Indian military, his name has been referred to as “Missile Man of India”.
He worked as a Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India in the rank of Cabinet Minister.
He played an outstanding & crucial role in executing Pokharan-II Nuclear test by deceiving U.S. Satellites that was focusing on India to monitor India’s nuclear development activities round the clock.
He contributed lot for India’s space & missile research and development programs. His unrelenting involvement with India’s ballistic missile development program earned him the nickname “Missile Man of India”.
Abdul Kalam always believed that the younger generation of India is a valuable asset of the country and they would play dominant role for the growth and development of India in future. That was the main reason he was always finding time to interact with the students and youngsters to inspire them.
He was a humble, visionary, down to earth, exchanging his knowledge to others, highly inspirational as well as an accomplished leader of the world. He gets immense respect from India and across the world for his vast contribution towards the country.
His main aim was to build a strong and self-reliant India. His outstanding contributions and undying legacy in the field of science & technology and education was always been a model of inspiration.

- Received Padma Bhushan award from Government of India in 1981.
- Received Padma Vibhushan award from Government of India in 1990.
- Received Bharat Ratna award from Government of India in 1997.
- Received Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration from Government of India in 1997.
- Received Veer Savarkar Award from Government of India in 1998.
- Received honourable doctorate from 40 Universities based in India and across the world
Throughout his career, he worked hard and fully dedicated for the growth and development of India.
Abdul Kalam passed away on 27th July 2015 while he was delivering a lecture to the students of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Shillong.
