BCCI taken right decision to appoint Rahul Dravid as a head coach of Indian cricket team

The entire Indian cricket lovers in India and across the world rejoiced the moment they heard that the BCCI has appointed Rahul Dravid as a head coach of Indian cricket team till 2023.

Present Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri’s tenure will end just after the conclusion of T20 World Cup in November 2021.

For the past fews years, the pressure has been building on Rahul Dravid to become the head coach of Indian team. But due to family and other problems Rahul Dravid has been refraining from accepting this post for the past few years.

Recently Rahul Dravid agreed to become head coach of Indian cricket team just after his friend and the BCCI president Saurav Ganguly successfully persuaded him to accept this coveted post.

Since 2019 Rahul Dravid has been working as a director of National Cricket Academy based in Bangalore. Under his able and efficient leadership qualities, NCA has already produced highly talented cricket players such as Siraj and Shardul Thakur, etc.

Being a director of NCA, Rahul Dravid is now busy in providing training and coaching for many budding talented Indian cricket players and many players are now getting chance to play for Indian cricket team, IPL as well as domestic cricket team etc.

He is a gentleman and a legendary Indian cricketer who is one of the most respected cricket players in the world cricket.

Rahul Dravid started his international test cricket career along with Saurav Ganguly at Lords in 1996. During this test series, Rahul Dravid scored 95 and 84 in his first two Test matches.

He was the most consistent cricket batsman of Indian team. Apart from playing as a batsman, some times he shouldered the responsibility as a wicket keeper of the team as and when the team required.

Rahul Dravid widely regarded as a Test Cricket Specialist. Whenever other batsman were failing to amass score, Rahul Dravid used to hang on the wicket as a wall and take adequate runs for the team.

He already played 164 test matches, taken 13288 runs, 36 test centuries and 63 fifty’s. Rahul Dravid is the fourth-highest run scorer in Test cricket, after Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis.

Rahul Dravid played 344 ODIs for India and altogether he has taken 10889 runs, 12 centuries and 83 fiftys.

Rahul Dravid received lot of awards during his illustrious career that are mentioned below:-

  • In 1998 he received Arjuna Award for his overall achievements in the international cricket,
  • In 1999 he received CEAT International Cricketer of the World Cup.
  • In 2000 he was one of the five cricketers selected as Wisden Cricketer of the Year.
  • In 2004 he received International Cricket Council Cricketer of the year.
  • In 2004 he received Padma Shri that is is India’s fourth highest civilian award.
  • In 2004 he received ICC Test Player of The Year award.
  • In 2006 he received Captain of the ICC’s Test Team.
  • In 2013 he received Padma Bhushan that is India’s third highest civilian award
  • In 2015 he received Wisden India’s Highest Impact Test Batsman.
  • In 2018 he received ICC Hall of Fame award.

While Rahul Dravid was playing for Indian cricket team, he got a tremendous ability and knack for contributing gigantic partnerships with VVS Laxman/Sehwag/Sachin Tendulkar. His timely contribution for taking required score immensely helped India to win many test matches.
