Rakhsha Bandhan is a sacred festival of Hindu religion
On 22nd August 2021 the entire Indians celebrated Raksha Bandhan to mark the special bond between siblings.
Raksha Bandhan widely considered as a day to celebrate the sacred relation of a brother and a sister.
On this occasion sister tie a sacred thread to her brother’s wrist as a symbolic act of love, care and protection.
In India, Raksha Bandhan festival is incredibly famous among the Hindu religion and hence they celebrates this festival with lots of Love, affection and happiness.
Ancient Hindu religion history says, while Lord Sri Krishna was having a fight with Sishupala, Sri Krishna’s finger sustained an injury. On seeing the same, Draupadi immediately tore off a piece of cloth from her Saree’s Pallu and used the same as a bandage to stop the bleeding.
Lord Krishna promised her to repay the cost of each thread that she used for covering the wound and to stop the bleeding. He also promised to help Draupadi by saying, “whenever you need me I’ll be always with you.”
Later Lord Krishna fulfilled his promise by helping Draupadi while King of Duryodhana was carrying out her ‘Vastra Apaharanam” right in front of the Kaurava King Sadas.
Though there are many other stories are around about the concept of Raksha Bandhan, but still majorities of Indians believes that the concept of Raksha Bandhan came from Draupadi and Lord Krishna.
Raksha Bandhan is one of the popular festivals of India and this festival falls on the full moon day of the Shravan month. This festival is also widely known as Rakhi Purnima.
Rakhi Bandhan festival basically originated in India, but it has gained a lot of significance across the globe among all the communities.
Raksha Bandhan is a Sanskrit word of“Rakshabandhanam”. Raksha’s meaning is “To protect” and the Bandhanam meaning is “Bond”. Altogether Raksha Bandhan means a “Bond of Protection”.
On the occasion of Rakash Bandhan, sister performs a Rakhi ceremony, tie a sacred thread on her brother’s wrist to express her love, care and affection towards her brother. In return, the brother ritually pledges to take care and protect his sister under all the circumstances.
Raksha Bandran is an ancient Hindu festival to preserve the love and responsibility between the brothers and sisters. This is one of the many occasions in which family ties are affirmed in India.
Prior to Rakhi Bandhan festival day, shops are selling beautiful, colorful and designer rakhis. Raksha Bandhan is more popular because it’s ceremony and celebration are much more attractive than the other festivals in India.
Rakhi is also a festival of Sweets, chocolates and to exchange the gifts. It brings back memories, people togetherness and strengthens the sibling love.
Though the Raksha Bandhan is a festival for brothers and sisters, but in North India this festival celebrates for glorifying the brotherhood among all the people beyond blood relationship.
