For the past few weeks, United Arab Emirates have been facing continuous missile attack from Iran supported Houthi group based in Yemen.
On 17th January 2022 Houthi has carried out a deadly drone-and-missile attack on Abu Dhabi that has caused killing of three people sparked a fire at Abu Dhabi’s international airport.
Afterwards U.S. Patriot Missile defense system has successfully intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles that was targetted to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company fuel depot, Abu Dhabi’s Dhafra airbase and the vital locations in Dubai.
Now a days Yemen based Houthi’s are stepping up their missile attack on U.A.E and Saudi Arabia to revenge the air attacks that U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia jointly carried out against Houthi’s stronghold areas in Yemen.
UAE is a member of a Saudi-led military coalition backing Yemen’s legitimate government that has been waging war against the Houthi military group for the past seven years.
Houthi’s latest missile attacks has badly shaken the U.A.E. and they are now taking wide range offensive and defensive military measures to deal with the ongoing military threats from Houthi to protect U.A.E.
The latest missile attacks on UAE is now forcing U.A.E. to seek military help from Israel.
Israel has wide range military expertise and the effective missile defense system to thwart the incoming missiles from Hamas and Hezbollah militia groups that has been waging war against Israel past few years.
Israel’s Iron Dome missile-defense system successfully intercepted and destroyed ninety percent of the barrage of rockets that was fired by Hamas during the war between between between Hamas and Israel in May, 2021.
By utilizing Iron Dome, Israel successfully managed to thwart Hamas’s each and every military effort to inflict heavy casualties and major property damages in Israel.
International media recently reported that the U.A.E regime is now planning to acquire Israel’s Missile Defense Systems that they are hoping to protect it from Houthi missile attacks.
U.A.E. is now seriously considering to acquire Barak 8 Missile Defense System that was jointly developed by Israel’s Ministry of Defense and India’s DRDO. This missile defense system is in service with the militaries of India and Israel for the past few years.
Advantages of Barak 8 Missiles:-
- It has a range of around 70km and the same can intercept aircraft, low-flying anti-ship, cruise missiles and stealthy targets.
- Barak 8 model exists in both the sea-launched and land-based configurations.
- Barak-8 is a proven Missile Defense system that has already been exported to Azerbaijan earlier.
Azerbaijan has successfully used Barak 8 Missile Defense System in its conflict with Armenia in 2020 to shoot down a Russian-made ballistic missile fired by Armenia.
If Houthi military group will continue their missile attack against U.A.E., then the U.A.E. will not have any other alternative but to depend on Israel to acquire their missile defense system and other advanced military armaments in future.
