Shah Rukh Khan and his family completely rejoiced ever since Mumbai High Court granted bail for their son Aryan Khan.
Aryan Khan was arrested on 3rd October 2021 just after Narcotic Control Bureau officers carried out raid on a cruise ship party.
Since then Shah Rukh Khan has been trying his level best get the bail for Aryan Khan. But a special court under the Narcotics Drugs Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act rejected his bail application twice in a row.
During the bail plea arguments in High Court, the lawyers of Narcotic Control Bureau tried their level best to deny the bail for Aryan Khan by arguing that his WhatsApp chats revealed his involvement in illicit drug dealings and procuring of “hard drugs” in commercial quantity..
In reply to the same, Aryan Khan’s lawyer Mukul Rohatgi, argued in court that the NCA could not find any drugs from Aryan Khan during the raid and hence the reasons for his arrest were insubstantial.
Mukul Rohatgi further argued that the present criminal case against Aryan Khan was made on the basis of a two-year-old WhatsApp chats that was “irrelevant” at this juncture and the same has nothing to do with the cruise ship party.
During the arguments, Mukul Rohatgi suggested that the young boy like Aryan Khan was supposed to be sent to drug rehabilition center rather than prosecuting him as a criminal.
Mukul Rohatgi has put forward a valuable suggestion that “those youngsters who involved in drugs abuse and drug related cases” are supposed to be sent to drug rehabilitation centers to bring them back to normal life”.
If his suggestion will be implemented in a broader manner, the government will be able to rehabilitate many young boys who are one or other reasons get addicted to the banned drugs.
If the court punishes the young and educated drug addicts as a hard core criminal, then their life will be completely spoiled once and for all and they will not get any opportunity to contribute for the country in future.
His suggestion should not be applicable to those who are engaging drug peddling and drug trafficking across the country.
