Indian Navy has celebrated “Navy Day” on 4th December 2021 to honour the Indian Navy to acknowledge their role, achievements and contribution towards the country.
On this occasion, India pays tribute to the entire Navy personnel who have sacrificed their lives while carrying out daring naval operations to protect the country.
Indian Navy celebrating “Navy Day” every year to mark the anniversary of the “Operation Trident” that was launched by Indian Navy during Indo-Pak war in 1971.
During the 1971 Indo Pak war, to counter Pak offensive on Indian airbases, Indian Navy has sent 3 missile boats towards Karachi and these 3 missile boats succeeded in sinking four Pakistani Naval Vessels that has caused killing of hundreds of Pakistan Naval Personnel.
Indian Navy has played decisive role in defeating Pakistan during the Indo Pak war in 1971. Since then India Government has been spending lot of money for making Indian Navy as one of the best Navy in the world.
On this day Indian Navy organizes various programs such as air displays, marathons, tattoo ceremonies to make the Navy Day as colourful and memorable.
Indian Navy utilizes this occasion to highlight the success and dedication of the Indian Navy personnel and to educate the children and Indian citizens about India’s victory in the 1971 war.
Indian Navy is one of the Divisions of Indian military and it’s Commander-in-Chief is the President of India.
In 1612, East India Company formed Royal Indian Navy and in 1950 it’s name has been changed as Indian Navy.
In 1674, Maratha Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj laid the foundation of Indian Navy to protect his Maratha Kingdom and to protect the sea trade. He has built a strong naval presence across the coast of Konkan and Goa region. That is the reason he is widely known as the “Father of the Indian Navy”.
