As expected, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a final decision to repeal the three contentious farm laws.
As these laws have already been passed in the Upper and Lower house in the Parliament, repealing of this MSP law supposed to be passed in the both Parliament houses to complete it’s parliamentary procedure.
Parliament has the authority to enact, amend, and to repeal any law. The government has to move required motions to repeal the three farm laws in the coming session of Parliament. These motions will be moved by the same ministry that has piloted the Bills to enact the laws.
Ever since Indian Parliament passed the controversial farm bills and the President of India assented the same, Rakesh Singh Tikait lead Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has been agitating since September 2020 to repeal the same.
Instead of sorting out this problems with the leaders of Samyukt Kisan Morcha(SKM) through mutual discussion, the adamant Narendra Modi Government proceeded further to implement this laws across the country.
Till now about 700 farmers have already been martyred and hundreds of people have already been injured during the violent clashes broke out in different times across the country.
Their agitation turned violent on 26 January 2021 when India was celebrating it’s 72nd Republic Day. On this day, thousands of people gathered in Delhi to conduct a tractor rally that has witnessed widespread chaotic scenes across the city.
Thousands of agitating farmers deviated the agreed rally routes and clashed with police at several locations in Delhi.
Police forced to resort lathi charge and lob tear gas shells when some of the agitators pulled down the police barricades at Ghazipur to move towards Delhi.
During this violent protest, a tractor overturned at a busy crossing area in Delhi that has caused killing of a young protestor from Uttarakhand.
Some of the protesters utilize this violent opportunity in Delhi to storm into the historic Red Fort and hoisted a Sikh religious flag.

- Jats and Sikh communities joined together against the controversial farm law.
- BJP faced major electoral set back in the last by election held in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal.
- BJP’s top brass feels that their electoral prospects in the upcoming Assembly elections in five states such as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Goa. would adversely be affected.
- BJP suspects that the contentious Farm Laws would adversely affect their poll prospects in the Lok Sabha poll in 2024
- As Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi was vigorously leading the campaign against the three contentious Farm Laws across India, BJP suspects that the entire farmers in the country may support congress party in the upcoming assembly elections upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Goa.
- BJP leadership suspects that the world statesman status Narendra Modi may adversely be affected due to ongoing agitation against the contentious farms law.
This is not the first time Narendra Modi Government is retracting from the earlier important decisions.
Earlier BJP government has already been put the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in the cold storage that was passed by the Parliament and ascended by the President of India.
